Wildflower Meadow Sleep Pillow
A British native wildflower meadow hand embroidered on to antique linen and enclosing a sleep pillow mix from Mary Doggett's receipt book of 1682 including roses, mint and cloves. Mary described it as a scent " to smell unto for Melancholy or to cause one to sleep"; it is an uplifting perfume and it does make one sleep deeply!
The flowers depicted here are corn chamomile, meadow cranesbill and corn cockle; once upon a time they were all common place in the countryside, hopefully they will be again one day.
The sleep pillow measures 10" x 6" (25 x 15cm).
