A Pair of Pressed Glass Butterfly Candlesticks

A pair of amber glass butterfly candlesticks from the 1930s made by Sowerby, a company famous for its glassware and based in Gateshead in the North of England.

I'm very fond of this pattern, the Peacock butterflies on the handles and the daffodils around the base make them very special.  I've also met these candlesticks in green and blue glass, and all of them have a lovely quality and weight.  At one time they would have graced someone's dressing table, but today they work well in any room of the home.

Standing 8cm tall, 10.5cm in diameter across the base and made of pressed amber glass, they are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.  There is a small bubble in the glass of the rim of one of the candlesticks from when it was made, which I've shown in the second picture.
